The First Day

All I could see was white and suddenly a hard thud! We had finally landed after a long eight-hour flight that I was sick the entire way because I had a head cold prior to leaving the states. All I could think of was that we were going to leave the plane and there were going to be police officers with guns everywhere because of everything that I heard on the news with the war just starting this week! I was a wreck. However, I meet this lovely lady named Madeline on the plane and she helped me get through Gatwick and the Victoria Station and even explained to me the que, the line! Then I was off by myself once again on my way to AIU.

When we got to the University, I was somewhat surprised that it was in the middle of a street of shops and everything. I then attempted to use the pay phone, which ended up being an even bigger obstacle than I thought, I never did figure those out. So thankfully the guy behind the desk let me use his card to call home and let my parents know that I arrived ok.

After a group of us arrived at the University, we found out that we were all staying at Bedford so we caught another cab and got our keys and everything from Attilee, who ended up being one of my roommates. Then as I entered the door, saw the curved staircase, and came to the realization that I was three floors up I about died. I was so glad that there was no one else around that saw me try to get my luggage up all those stairs because it was quite a sight to say the least! After that, I was exhausted and I told myself that I was not going to fall asleep but sure enough, I was out as soon as I hit the bed. I finally heard someone at the door and it was Leigh my other roommate. We decided to go to the Internet Café around the corner and get lunch; the food was actually really good compared to what everyone says about London's food. Then that night we went on a tour of the surrounding area, which just had me even more confused, and then we went to this little pub and got dinner and some real London ale.

In addition, we got a chance to meet many of the other students from all around the states that were studying abroad for the semester. This was a great idea because it kept us up so we could get used to the time change. After meeting many people it was time to head back to our flat for our first night in London.

The first day was unbelievable at that point; I knew that I would never want to leave.
